Audi Announces the New A2 e-tron

Audi CEO Gernot Döllner recently announced the upcoming A2 e-tron, a new all-electric model family set to debut in autumn 2026. Designed to make premium electric mobility more accessible, this compact entry-level model aims to combine everyday practicality with high efficiency. A preliminary design sketch has already been released, offering a first look at the vehicle's silhouette.

A Modern Successor to an Urban Icon

The A2 e-tron name is a purposeful tribute to the original Audi A2, which was celebrated for its pioneering efficiency 25 years ago. This new iteration targets a broad international audience, specifically those in major European cities who value sustainability and digital connectivity. By expanding its compact segment, Audi intends to attract a younger demographic to its increasingly electric portfolio.

Manufacturing Excellence

In a boost for German industry, the A2 e-tron will be manufactured at Audi’s headquarters in Ingolstadt. This move reinforces the brand’s commitment to its domestic production sites and the transformation of its European plants. CEO Döllner emphasised that producing this fully electric line in Germany is vital for securing local jobs and delivering high-quality engineering.

Strengthening the Model Range

Following a massive rollout of over 20 new models throughout 2024 and 2025, Audi now boasts the youngest portfolio among its competitors. The strategy for 2026 focuses on bookending the range: the flagship Audi Q9 will cater to the full-size luxury segment, while the A2 e-tron provides a sophisticated entry point into the world of electric Audis.
