When McLaren Special Operations (MSO) sets out to create something unique, the result is never just a car—it’s a story told through design. Project Viva is that story. A one-of-one McLaren 750S Spider, unveiled ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, it captures the rhythm, architecture, and energy of the city that never sleeps in a way only MSO can.
Where Inspiration Meets Artistry
Las Vegas is a city defined by spectacle—neon lights, iconic landmarks, and an unmistakable sense of movement. But rather than echoing its vibrancy through colour, MSO chose a bold, unexpected approach: monochrome artistry. Project Viva reimagines the ‘City of Lights’ through intricate, hand-painted linework, creating a livery that feels alive with motion. Every stroke tells a story, from the skyline and signage to the city’s ties with music and performance—all woven into McLaren’s own racing heritage.
Crafted with Intent
Every detail of Project Viva is deliberate. The bespoke paint palette includes Muriwai White, a nod to McLaren’s roots, and Vegas Nights, a deep black infused with subtle flecks of cyan, magenta, and green—capturing the glow of Las Vegas after dark. This isn’t just colour; it’s atmosphere, distilled into paint.
Adding a personal touch, McLaren Formula 1 drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri contributed hand-applied details, including sketches and the team’s tenth Constructors’ World Championship star on the rear bumper—a celebration of McLaren’s relentless pursuit of performance.
More Than a Car
Project Viva is a showcase of MSO’s philosophy: turning ideas into automotive art. It’s where craft meets character, and where inspiration becomes tangible. As Jonathan Simms, Director of MSO, explains: “Project Viva captures what McLaren Special Operations is all about—pushing beyond convention to create something truly personal. Every commission we create is a fusion of vision and skill, resulting in a car that authentically expresses the inspiration behind it.”
