Day 1
The 2-day event got underway with a tour of the Mercedes Formula 1 Factory, going behind the scenes to see what goes into a Formula 1 car. The Mercedes F1 Factory is behind the design, development and manufacturing of the iconic Mercedes Formula 1 cars.
The Mercedes F1 Factory manufactures over 30,000 components every year, including: wheel axles, uprights and gearbox cases, all made from aerospace quality materials including, steel, aluminium and titanium. 80% of a Mercedes F1 car is made from carbon fibre, a lightweight yet strong material. The factory produces over 50 types of carbon fibre, used within the make-up of a car. The level of detail and accuracy that goes into each component is outstanding. The components and set-up of the car are thoroughly inspected and tested to ensure they are at the best possible quality. X-Rays and Non Destructive Testing are some of the methods used to ensure the end result is up to scratch and is track ready. Other departments inside the factory include the Machine Shop, Testing and Development, Paint, IT, Simulation and Race Support. The day wrapped up with an evening of food and quizzing at the Besety Wynne.
Day 2
Day 2 was packed full of action with crossbow, archery and an off-roading experience in the INEOS Grenadier to unlock its full potential.
Getting behind the wheel for an off-roading session was the highlight of the event. INEOS Grenadier promises strength and durability - and that’s exactly what it delivers.
