Salalah, Oman - Audi recently put the upgraded S3 through its paces on the challenging roads around Salalah. More than just a facelift, the new S3 boasts a range of technical innovations that promise an exhilarating driving experience, powerful acceleration, and precise handling.

The heart of the S3 is the upgraded 2.0-litre TFSI engine, now delivering 333 horsepower and 420Nm of torque. This translates to confident pulling power, 0-62 mph acceleration in just 4.7 seconds, and a top speed of 155 mph (electronically limited).

Engine Refinements & Sportier Transmission

A preloaded turbocharger ensures more spontaneous power delivery, while an open throttle valve during acceleration phases further enhances performance. The seven-speed S tronic gearbox now enables quicker acceleration thanks to a higher starting torque and faster gear shifts. Similar to the Audi RS 3, the S3 now features a torque splitter for increased agility and stability. This system actively distributes torque between the rear wheels, optimising handling and cornering performance.

The new "dynamic plus" mode in the Audi drive select system unlocks exceptional driving dynamics. It sends more torque to the rear axle and the outside rear wheel, encouraging a playful oversteer tendency. Additionally, the engine and transmission are specifically tuned for this mode, offering a more direct throttle response, quicker shifts, and later upshifts for an even sportier feel.

Enhanced Handling

The S3 benefits from a McPherson strut axle with a new pivot bearing, allowing for a more negative wheel camber. This, along with stiffer wishbones, translates to improved steering response, higher lateral control, and sharper cornering. The standard progressive steering system provides a more direct steering feel, especially in the centre position, for improved handling and precision. Larger ventilated discs, twin-piston callipers, and wider pads on the front axle ensure superior braking performance and fade resistance.

New 19-inch tire options cater to different driving styles, offering optimised dry handling, improved braking performance, and precise track stability and The ESC system has been further refined for dynamic turn-in response and precise handling. It also features a sport mode specifically designed to complement the engine, transmission, and torque splitter for maximum driving pleasure.
